Reception Timeline Examples

I’ve attended SO many weddings, so you could basically say I’m an expert in the wedding planning area. Here are two samples of reception/wedding agendas that are guaranteed to flow, and make your wedding day as smooth and easy as possible!

Schedule 1 (no sit down meal served)

Reception Timeline - 6pm - 8:30pm

5:30pm - Photographer arrives to take photos of decor and set up

6pm - Reception and receiving line starts

6:45pm - Receiving line ends, couple can walk around and enjoy reception for 20 min ~ if desired ~~ Or couple can do any other activities, such as the shoe game, toasts, performances, etc.

7:10pm - Cake Cutting, serve cake, and cleanup

7:20pm - Bride and Father First Dance

7:25pm - Groom and Mother First Dance

7:30pm - Bride & Groom First Dance

7:35pm - Dance Party Starts (bridal party decorates car!)

8:10pm - Bouquet & Garter Toss (if desired)

8:20pm - Bride & Groom change (if applicable) for send-off

8:20pm - “Last Dance” while guests prepare for send-off

8:30pm - Send-Off

Schedule 2 (including a sit down meal)
